At approximately 22h00 on 3 October 2019, an intruder tried his luck at the Vice-Chair of a Neighbourhood Watch members house in Paradise. The suspect triggered perimeter beams before running off.
Armed with CCTV footage of the suspect, the NHW member and Allsound Security Manager went out patrolling suspecting that the intruder may try his luck elsewhere.
After 2.5 hours, the man was spotted in the CBD. When stopped and searched, he was found in possession of house break-in implements and possible stolen goods including a small speaker, clock radio, latch, paintbrush, pocket knife etc. It is still unclear where these items were stolen from.
The suspect and goods were handed over to SAPS. He was subsequently charged for possession of housebreaking implements and stolen goods. As in so many of these arrests, the man is currently out on parole.
Thank you to the SAPS Crime Prevention Unit E Shift for their quick assistance and well done to all involved.
